"The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as sacred song united to the words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn Liturgy.… [S]acred music is to be considered the more holy in proportion as it is more closely connected with the liturgical action, whether it adds delight to prayer, fosters unity of minds, or confers greater solemnity upon the sacred rites." Vatican Council II:Sacrosanctum Concilium 112 (1963)
Liturgical music is essential to the prayer and praise of God, lifting up our hearts and voices in song to our God, who has graced us with the gift of music and singing.
St. Michael Church has beautiful mixed choir, a men's choir that has been singing together for 40 years, and several vocalists and musicians who lead our congregations in song.
We are always looking for new talent to participate in Mass, and we encourage those with a talent for singing and playing instruments to contact us so that you can share your God-given talents with our family.
**St. Michael's Church does not provide music for weddings and funerals. Musicians, vocalists, and choirs should be contacted by the families or individuals who are in need of their services.
