The Vatican is the home of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, and the center of the Roman Catholic Church.  All of the Curial offices are located in this smallest of all countries, and in this historical place lies the heart of our Catholic faith and identity. 

Serving the particular needs of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States of America, this unified body of servant leaders as the Bishops of the United States leads Catholics in all forms of the teaching of the Catholic Faith, and they convene twice a year to make decisions on the direction of the Church in this country. 

Carved out of the Archdiocese of New Orleans in 1918, the Diocese of Lafayette was formed to serve the needs of the Catholic faithful in South Louisiana, also known as Acadiana.  Rich in history, our Diocese serves more than 350,000 Catholics with 121 parishes.    Our current Bishop, Most Rev. Douglas Deshotel, D.D., is a native of Basile, serving as the seventh Bishop of Lafayette since 2016.
