Confirmation is the third of the Sacraments of Initiation. Through the calling forth of the Holy Spirit, young men and women confirm their faith in Jesus Christ and His Church as they are sealed with the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit using Sacred Chrism that is rubbed on their foreheads by the Bishop (or his delegate).
Confirmation is normally celebrated in the Diocese of Lafayette for people at the age of 16 (High School Juniors). However, if for some reason a person was not prepared to receive this Sacrament for any number of reasons, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is an option. RCIA is a process by which adults who are over the age of 18 have decided they would like to continue their religious education and formation later in life.
